Hi my name is Kathryn Hansen and I create fine art quality pet portraits of dogs, cats, horses and wildlife. Animals have always been apart of my artwork, I feel a kinship with the constant stream of creatures flowing through my life, some in living breathing form, others through films or photographs. I love drawing the boundless character and energy of these creatures. I work diligently to reflect as much of those qualities as possible in my art.
For now, my primary medium is graphite pencil. I love working in monochrome, finding the essence of my subject rather than working with its color. I just love the dramatic effect of it. There is a part of me that thrives on creating photographic-quality portraits, but in a way that brings out the playful spark and dignity of an animal.
